A silver 2023 Toyota Highlander drives away underneath a highway overpass.

The Highlander has been strong for over 20 years. It does a great job of meeting the demand in Stow and Cuyahoga Falls for three-row SUVs. Toyota has packed plenty of power and modern technology into this spacious vehicle. The good news is that the Highlander has improved for the 2023 model year. The company has upgraded it in several ways, which we know our customers at Toyota of Kent will appreciate.

One of the biggest upgrades can be found under the hood of the SUV. In previous years, the Highlander had a capable 3.5-liter V6 with 263 pound-feet of torque. The new engine is a turbocharged, high-efficiency model that can carry 309 pound-feet of torque. The 2023 model’s turbo 2.4-liter engine can also deliver 265 horsepower. While having more power, the new engine has the same estimated fuel economy as the previous engine, and it significantly reduces emissions.

Other changes can be seen in the cabin. The Limited and Platinum feature two 12.3-inch screens, one of which serves as the hub for the infotainment system and the other acting as the digital instrument cluster. The 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster replaces the former seven-inch display. The new version has four different visual modes you can choose from. The 12.3-inch center touchscreen is standard on the Hybrid Bronze Edition and available on select others. Plus, the available wireless charging pad is now in a more convenient location on the instrument panel shelf.

The Limited and Platinum trims also have a few additional features. They now come standard with power-folding side mirrors that can be useful when parking in narrow spots, and they come with hands-free power lift gates.
