The two lower trims are powered by a turbocharged 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine delivering 278 hp and 317 lb-ft of torque. All models have an 8-speed automatic transmission and part-time 4-wheel drive on demand. The 2024 Tacoma is as rugged as ever, but it’s quite well-behaved on the highway. Steering is light and accurate, while shifting is smooth and quick, making the truck’s handling impressively refined. The powertrain also allows you to merge and pass without a thought.

Technology

When Toyota gave the interior cabin a makeover, the technology was completely overhauled, as well. A 4-speaker audio system, a 3-monistrial SiriusXM subscription, and an 8-inch multimedia touchscreen are standard on the 2024 Tacoma’s base model. Upper-level trims have huge 14-inch touchscreens that really work well for exterior camera views and maps.

The infotainment system includes wireless compatibility with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, so you can stay connected, use your phone apps, and stream your favorite content while on the road.
