If you need more confidence in adverse weather or want to take this compact SUV off the road, you can opt for the available all-wheel drivetrain. This system is paired with two motors, one on each axle, and a 72.8 kWh battery, providing 214 horsepower and 248 lb-ft of torque. In this configuration, the standard drive modes pair with Toyota’s X-MODE which includes Snow/Dirt, Deep Snow/Mud, and Grip Control drive modes.

Range and Charging

No matter which powertrain you opt for, the 2025 bZ4X provides the range to go the distance. The front-wheel drive system is the best choice for long road trips, delivering up to 252 miles per charge with an estimated fuel economy rating of 119 MPGe combined. The all-wheel drive system is also efficient, providing up to 236 miles of range per charge and 112 MPGe combined.

With standard fast-charging capability, you can use 150 kW or above public charging stations to replenish the battery to 80 percent in about 30 minutes. Level 2 home charging is available, charging the battery to 100 percent in under ten hours. Both batteries also boast Level 1 charging capability, meaning you can plug the EV into a standard wall outlet if you don’t have access to a Level 2 or Level 3 charging station.
