The 2025 Toyota Prius returns this year and continues to prove that hybrid efficiency doesn’t need to be boring. With up to 196 horsepower, precise handling, and a new Nightshade Edition with a zesty new shade of exterior paint, the Prius makes everyday drives more exciting than ever. Its standard features are impressive, too, with tech that keeps you safer and adds convenience to each trip.
The Prius is an ultra-efficient hatchback that can travel up to 57 miles on a gallon of gasoline, according to EPA-estimates. It also has impressive performance, with front-wheel drive models generating 194 net horsepower from the 2.0-liter 4-cylinder hybrid system. Prius models equipped with Electronic On-Demand All-Wheel Drive get 196 horsepower and a 0-60 mph time of 7.0 seconds. Every model has an independent suspension with stabilizer bars to help you navigate corners and curves with confidence.
Inside, the Prius’ five-passenger cabin comes with a pollen filter, SofTex-trimmed steering wheel, and a tonneau cover to keep your cargo hidden. Depending on the grade you choose, your Prius may be appointed with SofTex-trimmed seats, heated front seats, or a fixed glass roof. Behind the rear seats, the cargo area has up to 23.8 cu. ft. of space for everyday errands, while standard 60/40 split fold-down rear seats make room for even more cargo.
All-New Nightshade Edition
For 2025, the Prius gets a new Nightshade Edition, available in three colors, including the new mustard yellow Karashi. This trim steals the spotlight with its 19-inch black finish alloy wheels and black exterior trim. Inside, drivers enjoy cabin upgrades like carbon fiber dashboard details, heated front seats, and SofTex-trimmed seats in black with gray stitching. The Nightshade Edition also comes with tech extras, including a wireless smartphone charger and Front and Rear Parking Assist with Automatic Braking.
Driver Assistance Technology
Eight airbags and a 5-Star Overall Safety Rating from the NHTSA make the Prius a smart choice for safety. Its safety features don’t end there, however. The Prius comes with plenty of driver assistance features that make driving more convenient and can even help you avoid a collision.
Since other parked vehicles can make it hard to see the lane behind you when you’re backing out of a parking space, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert helps you detect approaching vehicles with sensors in the rear bumper. This system issues a warning so you can apply the brakes before a collision happens. A separate Pre-Collision System detects vehicles and pedestrians in the road ahead to warn you of a potential forward collision.
