1. Efficient Hybrid Engine

The fifth-generation Prius uses a 2.0L inline-four gas engine combined with two electric motors and a CVT. In front-wheel drive models, this system produces 194 horsepower, while in all-wheel drive models, output is ever so slightly higher, at 196 horsepower. This represents a 60% horsepower increase from the previous generation’s 1.8L engine.

2. Fuel-in-Class Fuel Economy

Fuel efficiency is a cornerstone of the mighty Prius. The base LE trim in front-wheel drive takes the lead, achieving a best-in-class 57 mpg combined.
